Who's eligible
Worldwide. Slack accepts valid charitable status from the IRS (US), a local tax service or charity commission, or a local TechSoup Global partner.

- Not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, political affiliation or beliefs, sexual orientation or gender identity
- Not promote a particular religious doctrine as part of your mission or in exchange for services
Usually not eligible
- Educational organisations (they can use Slack for Education)
- Government offices, hospitals and health-related organisations, political or legislative groups, private grant-making foundations, churches and religious organisations (as listed on Slack's help page and secondary guides)
How to apply
- 1Create a Slack workspace if you do not have one (a workspace owner must apply).

- 3Enter your organisation's legal name, location, website and a short description.
- 4Complete the tax-exemption or charitable-status checklist for your country.
- 5Slack's partner reviews your charitable status. Wait for the email.
- 6If approved, Slack applies your free upgrade or discount within about three days.
Typical approval time: Usually a few business days; Slack applies the discount within about 3 days after approval.
Have these ready
- Legal name, location, website and a short description of your organisation
- Charitable status documentation, which varies by country (US applicants complete an additional tax-exemption checklist)
Tips
- Apply separately for each workspace you want discounted.
- The discount is not retroactive. No refunds for fees paid before approval.
- If you are not approved you can keep using the free Slack plan.
- Slack's own help page says TechSoup reviews applications, but several 2026 guides say Goodstack does. Expect to be sent to whichever partner Slack uses on the form.
- Free plan limits (for example message history) change often. Compare before assuming you need to upgrade.
