Grant
Microsoft Azure nonprofit grant (US$2,000 a year)
Verified Microsoft for Nonprofits organisations can claim US$2,000 of Azure credit each year. It is a credit, not cash, and it only applies to Microsoft's own Azure services. It is still offered as of October 2026.
Official page ↗What you get
- US$2,000 in Azure Sponsorship credit per year, renewable each year
- Credit shared across all subscriptions under the billing profile you choose
- Access to Azure's cloud and AI services (first-party Microsoft services only)
Who's eligible
Offered through Microsoft for Nonprofits wherever Microsoft nonprofit offers are available. Nonprofits in China and India remain on the legacy Azure Sponsorship portal.
- Be validated and approved for Microsoft for Nonprofits (see that entry)
- Be the primary contact on the Azure grant offer (only that person can activate it)
- Have a credit card for the billing profile (it is not charged unless usage goes over the credit)
Usually not eligible
- Organisations not approved for Microsoft for Nonprofits
- Use of credit for reserved instances, third-party marketplace offers or support plans
- Merging the credit with Enterprise Agreement, CSP, SCE or Open licensing agreements (Microsoft's FAQ says these cannot be merged)

Have these ready
- An approved Microsoft for Nonprofits account
- A billing profile with legal entity details and a valid payment card
Tips
- If you do not renew on time, further usage converts to pay-as-you-go and is billed to your card.
- Spending the US$2,000 early does not let you renew early.
- Use a shared admin account (not one person's personal login) as the primary contact.
- Several 2025 blog posts questioned whether the grant had ended. Microsoft's current pages (renewal and activation guides, offers page and FAQ) confirm it is still available.
