Who's eligible

  • Be a charity registered with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), or a qualified donee

  • Or be a public library listed with Libraries and Archives Canada
  • Meet each donor partner's extra rules

Usually not eligible

  • Government bodies and for-profit businesses
  • Organisations without a registered charity number, nonprofit incorporation or library status

How to apply

  1. 1Go to techsoup.ca and register an individual account.
  2. 2Add your organisation with your charity number, incorporation number or library symbol, plus your budget.
  3. 3Upload your documents if TechSoup asks for them.
  4. 4When qualified, browse the catalogue and request products.
  5. 5For Microsoft, register at nonprofit.microsoft.com first (Microsoft's validation is now done by Goodstack, not TechSoup), then request licences.
  6. 6For Google, Canva, Zoom and similar programs, verify directly with Goodstack.

Typical approval time: Not confirmed. TechSoup normally reviews within a few business days.

Have these ready

  • Your charitable registration number, incorporation number or library symbol, and your operating or projected budget
  • If asked: your CRA charitable-status letter or your nonprofit incorporation documents (issued by your province or territory)
  • Upload in your account under Organization Details or email the qualifications address on the site

Tips

  • Some of TechSoup Canada's help pages date from 2017 and describe the old Microsoft process. Follow Microsoft's current registration instead.
  • If you are a non-charity nonprofit (for example a provincial society), expect more document requests than a CRA-registered charity.
  • The live techsoup.ca pages could not be loaded directly during this research, so details come from TechSoup's search snippets and help articles. Confirm on the site.
