TechSoup UK (formerly the Charity Digital Exchange)
TechSoup UK is now the home of donated and discounted technology for UK charities. Since 1 July 2025 it has run the catalogue that used to be the Charity Digital Exchange. Joining is free; you pay a small administration fee per product.
Official page ↗What you get
- Access to donated and discounted products such as Microsoft (including Microsoft 365 and Copilot), Bitdefender, Autodesk, Adobe Express, Cisco and many others
- Courses, webinars and advice for charities
- An existing Charity Digital Exchange account carries across: you may only need to reset your password
Who's eligible
United Kingdom registered charities. During sign-up you choose your regulator (for example Charity Commission) and enter your charity number.
- Be a UK registered charity (Charity Commission for England and Wales, OSCR in Scotland or the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland)
- The person registering must be an employee or office holder (for example a trustee) of the charity
- Meet any extra rules set by the individual donor company
Usually not eligible
- Individuals, government bodies and for-profit companies
- Non-charity community groups that cannot show recognised charitable status (TechSoup UK's published detail on other types such as CICs could not be confirmed)
How to apply
- 1Go to techsoup.uk and choose Create Your Account. If you already had a Charity Digital Exchange account, reset your password instead.
- 2Register as an individual who works for, or is a trustee of, the charity, using a work email address.
- 3Add your organisation: select your regulator (for example 'Charity Commission') and enter your charity number.
- 4Wait for TechSoup UK to confirm your charity. You may be asked to upload a document.
- 5Browse the catalogue and request the products you need, paying the administration fee shown.
- 6For Microsoft products, also register and get validated at nonprofit.microsoft.com (Microsoft's validation partner is Goodstack) and link it to your TechSoup order.
Typical approval time: Secondary sources say qualification takes up to about 10 working days; TechSoup UK's own page could not be read (the site blocks automated tools), so treat this as unconfirmed.
Have these ready
- Your registered charity number and the name of your regulator
- Supporting documents only if your details on the charity register are out of date or you are newly registered (for example governing document or registration confirmation)
Tips
- Charity Digital still publishes training and content but no longer runs the Exchange catalogue. Do not email Charity Digital about orders or accounts; use the TechSoup UK contact form.
- Administration fees are reported by the UK sector press as usually 4 to 8 per cent of the retail price, but the fee varies by product. Check the product page.
- Microsoft 365 Business Basic donated licences carry a TechSoup service fee (US$1 per user per month was quoted on a TechSoup blog in 2025; check the current figure).
- Google for Nonprofits and many other programs do not go through TechSoup UK: use Goodstack for those.
