About Microsoft Copilot+

Microsoft Copilot is the AI assistant built into Microsoft 365. Copilot Chat, a secure chat assistant with agents, is included in Microsoft 365 subscriptions at no extra charge. The paid add-on (Microsoft 365 Copilot) brings AI into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, using your organisation's own files, and adds tools such as the Researcher agent and Copilot Notebooks. Nonprofits get a discounted price on the add-on.

Pricing: Copilot Chat is included in Microsoft 365 at no extra charge. Microsoft's nonprofit page lists the Copilot add-on at US$25.50 per user per month, paid yearly (a 15% nonprofit discount on the US$30 list price). Microsoft 365 Business Basic is available free for up to 300 users for eligible nonprofits. Microsoft's Q&A says no nonprofit pricing exists for Microsoft 365 Copilot Business (third-party sources put list price at about US$21 per user a month), with a promotional price reported for a limited period; sources differ on the end date.

Microsoft states that prompts, responses and data accessed through Microsoft Graph in Copilot and Copilot Chat are not used to train foundation models, and are covered by the Microsoft Products and Services Data Protection Addendum with Microsoft acting as data processor. Commitments include GDPR support, the EU Data Boundary, ISO/IEC 27018, encryption, tenant isolation, sensitivity labels, your retention policies, audit, and HIPAA support for properly configured use. Exceptions Microsoft notes: web search queries sent to Bing are outside the EU Data Boundary and the DPA, Anthropic models are excluded from the EU Data Boundary, and third-party agents have their own terms that must be checked.
