About Proton Lumo+

Lumo is an AI chat assistant from Proton, the maker of Proton Mail. Conversations are stored with zero-access encryption, so even Proton cannot read them, and Proton says it never uses your data to train AI. It is hosted in Europe and its code is open source. It runs in the cloud, not on your device, so it is a middle path between ChatGPT and fully local AI.

Pricing: Free plan has limited messages, image generations and one project, and guest access is available without an account. Lumo Plus is reported at €12.99 per month or €9.99 per month annually. Business offers Lumo Professional and a Workspace Premium bundle, with a 14-day trial and 30-day money-back guarantee; business prices did not display on the page and third-party reports (about US$14.99 and US$19.99 per user per month) were not confirmed.

Proton says conversations use zero-access encryption so Proton cannot read them, that it does not log chat histories and never uses your data to train AI. Lumo is hosted in Europe with GDPR compliance, and the code is open source. Business plans are described as supporting GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001 and SOC 2. Because it is a cloud service, your prompts still leave your device, so it is not the same as running a local model.
