Perplexity is an AI search engine that answers questions in plain English and shows its sources, which makes it handy for quick research on funders, policy changes and sector news. Perplexity has said it offers reduced pricing on its Enterprise plan for nonprofits, schools and government, but the details are not easy to find.

Pricing: Free plan available. Pro is US$20 per month; Enterprise Pro is about US$40 per seat per month. Eligible nonprofits get Enterprise Pro at US$30 per seat per month or US$300 per seat per year (25% off), confirmed by Perplexity.

Data & privacy+

Reported by secondary sources: on Free, Pro and Max plans an 'AI data retention' setting is on by default and must be turned off in account settings to opt out of training; on Enterprise plans, data is not used to train models. Perplexity's agreements with OpenAI and Anthropic reportedly prohibit them from training on Perplexity data. Perplexity's own pages could not be loaded, so verify before relying on this.
