tawk.to gives you a free live chat box for your website and mobile apps, so your staff or volunteers can talk to visitors in real time. It also has an AI assistant that can answer from your own content, with a free level for low chat volume and paid levels above that. It is one of the cheapest ways for a small charity to get chat on its site.

Pricing: Live chat is free. AI Assist is priced monthly from about US$29 for standard chat volume, with a free level for limited volume. Removing the 'Powered by tawk.to' branding costs US$29/month. Optional hired agents start at US$1 per hour. The pricing page does not mention nonprofit pricing.

Data & privacy+

tawk.to acts as a data processor under a published data processing addendum and says it follows GDPR and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. For AI Assist it says it learns only from data you supply, processes only the current conversation without retaining past interactions, and never shares data with third parties. We could not confirm hosting location, which AI models it uses, or SOC 2.
