The Zendesk Foundation's Tech for Good Impact Awards give selected nonprofits grants of US$5,000 to US$50,000 plus free Zendesk software; it is a competitive application, not a standing discount, and the 2026 round closed on 15 July 2026.
Watch techforgood.zendesk.com for the next application round and apply online with your registration details and how the tool would support your mission.
Great for
- Medium to large charities with a support or helpline team handling many enquiries
- Organisations that want AI agents to resolve common questions across email, chat and messaging
- Mature, scalable help desk
- AI agents with clear per-resolution billing
- Region choice including EEA and Australia
- Annual Tech for Good awards for eligible nonprofits
Watch out for
- Small teams without a dedicated support person, as set-up and costs are heavy
- Organisations expecting a standing nonprofit discount (none found)
- No standing nonprofit discount
- Expensive for small teams once AI and add-ons are included
- Some generic classification models are trained across customers' data
- Tech for Good is competitive and focused on three mission areas

About Zendesk+
Zendesk is one of the best-known help desk platforms. It turns emails, chat, social messages and calls into tickets, and its AI agents can resolve common questions automatically. It suits larger charities with a support team, helplines or high volumes. There is no general nonprofit discount; the Zendesk Foundation instead runs a competitive Tech for Good programme with grants and free software.
Pricing: Support Team US$19/agent/month annual (US$25 monthly): email and ticketing. Suite Team US$55 annual (US$69 monthly) adds AI agents, live chat and knowledge base. Suite Professional US$115 annual (US$149 monthly). AI agents are billed per automated resolution: a few are included per agent each month, and extra ones cost around US$2.00 pay-as-you-go (a lower committed rate exists). 14-day trial.

AI features+
AI agents resolve customer questions across messaging, email and voice and are billed per automated resolution. Higher plans add AI writing tools and an admin copilot.
Data & privacy+
Zendesk lets you choose a data centre region (US, Australia, Japan or EEA) with an add-on, on AWS. It has ISO 27001, 27018, 27701 and 42001 certifications, SOC 2 Type II (on request) and approved Binding Corporate Rules for GDPR, with a data processing agreement. Its AI mix: account-specific models trained only on your data, generic non-generative classification models trained across customers, and OpenAI-powered features under zero data retention.
How sure are we?+
Partly confirmed on the vendor's pages; some details from reputable secondary sources. Prices and nonprofit programs change often, so check with Zendesk before you commit. Rankings on Nonprofit Tools are never for sale.
